Sometimes, there are medical conditions that require the assistance of a more specialized professional. This is especially true when it comes to conditions that impact the skin, hair, nails, and body. In many situations, a primary care physician may recommend or refer a patient to a dermatologist for specialized care. A dermatologist is a medical professional who can assist with specific situations, providing more knowledge and insight than a standard doctor. At the Rendon Center Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine, we can provide the care patients deserve. If it’s your first time working with a dermatologist, we welcome you to our practice and can answer any questions you may have!
How long will my appointment take?
The length of the appointment is often determined by the reason for the visit. If a patient has a small rash they’d like examined, this appointment would take less time than an annual skin cancer screening, where our team will provide a head to toe examination of the patient’s entire body.
How do I prepare for my visit?
Be sure the area being evaluated is clean and accessible. Bring with you a list of any medications, supplements, vitamins, and skincare products you are using on a regular basis, and be prepared to ask questions about your medical history and your family history.
When should I arrive for my appointment?
We encourage new patients to arrive at our office approximately fifteen minutes prior to their scheduled appointment time. This allows the patient enough time to visit with our front office staff, have their medical insurance information entered into our system, and to complete paperwork.
What happens during a dermatology appointment?
The area of concern is evaluated by our board-certified dermatologist, and this information is used alongside with other diagnostic testing to provide a proper and definitive diagnosis of the issue at hand. Then, the dermatologist will be able to speak to the patient about appropriate treatment options, whether this includes in-office therapies or prescription medication to address.
