Do you wish your complexion had a healthy glow and a smother appearance? A diamond microdermabrasion peel can help to rejuvenate your skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The best part is that this procedure is non-invasive and requires no downtime.
Microdermabrasion: What It Is & How It Can Help You?
Your skin is continually renewing itself. In fact, the outermost layer of skin (the stratum corneum) consists of dead skin cells that are being shed and will be replaced by the healthy layer below. When you exfoliate your face, this is what you are removing. Underneath the stratum corneum is a fresh healthy layer of skin and microdermabrasion reveals this, giving your skin a healthy glow.
How Does Microdermabrasion Work?
When performing a diamond microdermabrasion peel, the Rendon Center uses a wand that has a diamond tip. Other forms of microdermabrasion spray tiny particles on the skin that is compared to sandblasting the skin; the diamond tip is gently moved along the skin, removing the stratum layer and revealing the healthy layer of skin beneath it. Microdermabrasion is similar to exfoliation; the key difference being that exfoliation removes the cells that are being shed and microdermabrasion removes all of the dead cells in one session. The procedure is essentially a skin peeling technique that does not involve the use of chemicals. In doing so, the skin that is revealed has a better texture and pigmentation. The procedure only takes about a half an hour to complete and is virtually painless, patients report feeling a vibrating sensation that is similar to getting a facial massage.
What Are The Benefits Of Microdermabrasion?
Patients are pleased with the way microdermabrasion leaves their skin feeling, but it is also effective in addressing a number of skin problems. It is commonly used to treat age spots, acne, large pores, and fine lines. As an added benefit, with repeated treatment, it can help stimulate the production of collagen.
Who Is A Good Candidate For Microdermabrasion?
There isn’t a person out there who couldn’t benefit from giving our skin’s exfoliation process a little helping hand. That’s especially true with all the sun exposure we get here in sunny Boca. That’s exactly what these easy-to-take treatments at Rendon Center do.
Our diamond tip microdermabrasion is a great treatment because it can be used on all skin colors and types. It cannot cause hyperpigmentation, as some laser procedures do. It doesn’t require any downtime. It’s painless. The only people who cannot have microdermabrasion are those with an active skin infection.
What Skin Issues Can I Address With Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion exfoliates the outer layer of your skin. The treatment works by loosening and removing dead skin cells to reveal younger-looking cells beneath. Our patients from across South Florida love what our diamond tip microdermabrasion does for their skin. Microdermabrasion...
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
- Removes sun-damaged skin
- Reduces age spots
- Reduces melasma
- Reduces hyperpigmentation
- Improves acne and acne scars
- Reduces enlarged pores
- Stimulates new collagen production
And it does all of this without a minute of downtime or recovery.
How Many Microdermabrasion Treatments Are Needed?
It may take several sessions to achieve the desired results, for this reason, many patients begin by receiving treatments every two weeks, and then the frequency is reduced to once a month. Your provider at the Rendon Center will determine what treatment schedule is best for your needs.
What Happens After My Treatment?
There is no recovery or downtime with microdermabrasion at Rendon Center. Your skin may appear as if you have a mild sunburn for the first few hours after treatment, but this passes quickly. For the first 24 hours, your skin may feel dry, as if you’ve been out in the wind, but applying moisturizer solves that. You should avoid sun exposure for at least a week after your session.
There are no side effects or risks involved with this procedure.
Are There Any Side Effects From Microdermabrasion?
Due to the fact that there is no downtime, it is possible for patients to have this procedure performed during their lunch hour and return to work after the treatment without any problems; this is why it is sometimes called a “lunchtime peel.” The most common side effect is redness, which can last for a few hours.
How Long Will The Results From My Microdermabrasion Last?
Our skin is constantly rebuilding, completely replacing itself in about 28 days for teenagers. As we age, the process slows: for those over 50 it can take up to 84 days for the same skin renewal. The longer it takes for our skin to renew itself, the more build up forms with dead skin cells on the top layer of the skin. This makes our skin look dull and tired. The faster to slower skin renewal time is why young skin looks so much more vibrant than the skin of someone over 50.
You can generally expect to enjoy fresher, more vibrant skin for about 30 days. But microdermabrasion improves your skin for longer than that as it also can increase collagen production.
Can I Combine Microdermabrasion With Other Treatments?
Because our diamond tip microdermabrasion at Rendon Center is so easy to take, and because it is only used on the face, you can combine your session with another one of our treatments if you’d like to make great use of your time.
Just about any of our cosmetic or clinical dermatology treatments could be paired with your microdermabrasion. On the clinical side, we could remove some spider veins on your legs with sclerotherapy or we could address hyperhidrosis. On the cosmetic side, just about anything we offer, from CoolSculpting to laser hair removal, could be combined with microdermabrasion. The only thing you wouldn’t want to combine would be another facial treatment such as a chemical peel or laser skin rejuvenation treatment.
Does Microdermabrasion Work On All Skin Types?
Microdermabrasion is completely non-invasive and non-ablative. It can be used on all skin colors and skin types. It doesn’t cause hyperpigmentation, as more ablative procedures sometimes do.
Is Microdermabrasion Painful?
Microdermabrasion only targets the outermost layer of your epidermis, and patients don’t require any topical anesthesia. Some patients equate the feeling to that of a facial massage.
When Will My Results Show Themselves?
Your skin will look healthier and more vibrant immediately after your session. It’s amazing how removing the outer layer of dead skin cells improves your skin’s tone. Overall results tend to build with more treatments, as your collagen production accelerates.
